A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE YWPD

April 18th, 2011: Two friends by the names of Scott Saxon and Ethan Ford founded the YoVille Police Department which is then operated inside of a trailer home.

 

August 10th, 2011: Superintendent Saxon and Chief Inspector Ford launch a Facebook Page for the YVPD.

 

October 4th, 2011: The YVPD Faceboook Page reaches 50 likes.

 

October 8th, 2011: With the sudden increase in popularity, Superintendent Saxon and Chief Inspector Ford decide to revamp their website and launch a new-look YVPD. An RV home is also purchased as the new base of operations, replacing the old trailer.

 

October 15th, 2011: After the launch of the new YVPD website on October 8th, The Pages' likes jump from 62 to 129. 

 

December 20th, 2011: The year is over. What started as a two man team operating from inside of a trailer has now transformed into a team of four with 129 Facebook supporters which is something Superintendent Saxon and Chief Inspector Ford could never have imagined. A final two posts to the Page announce a new website is under construction for the new year and also that the YVPD Station is being revamped once again.

 

January 15th, 2012: It's 2012 and the YVPD is continuing to grow and has also gained a large amount of likes since December 2011 bringing them to a total of 283 likes. The YVPD Station has been totally revamped and is now situated inside of an 09 Police Station.

 

February 9th, 2012: Likes are at 302 on the Facebook Page. The YVPD also releases 'YVPD Magazine'.

 

April 21st, 2012: Superintendent Saxon, Chief Inspector Ford and their team celebrate the 1st Anniversary of the YVPD with a 'YVPD Ball'.

 

May 13th, 2012: The Facebook Page reaches 500 Likes.

 

May 27th, 2012: Kerry Rowley joins the YVPD as part of the Senior Leadership Team and is given the title of Chief Constable. Kerry runs several famous YoVille contest Pages and helps to revamp the YVPD.

 

June 1st, 2012: YVPD Magazine publishes it's final Issue.

 

July 22nd, 2012: Superintendent Saxon posts an announcement on the YVPD Facebook Page stating that the YVPD will now offer daily contests on a permanent basis. This is part of Chief Constable Rowley's transformation of the YVPD.

 

July 25th, 2012: The YVPD posts it's first contest.

 

December 14th, 2012: The year has come to a close. The Pages' likes have now come to a total of 1,600 thanks to Chief Constable Rowley's transformation of the Page and introduction of regular contests.

 

October 30th, 2013: YoVille's popularity is declining. Hackings and scammings are becoming more frequent, the YoVille website has been taken offline for unknown reasons and the YoVille Forums are constantly under attack from hackers. Rumors spread that YoVille will soon close. The YVPD immediately take to the streets to regain order and reassure the public. A statement is posted on the YVPD Facebook Page and website by the YVPD to reassure the public that the YVPD is doing everything it can to protect, serve and assist the YoVille Community.

 

December 24th, 2013: The year is once again over. The YVPD now has over 2,000 likes on it's Facebook Page along with a six man team. 

 

January 10th, 2014: Zynga officially announces the closure of YoVille. The YVPD posts a statement to it's Facebook Page announcing that it will continue to assist players until the closure of the game.

 

May 9th, 2014: Big Viking Games officially purchases YoVille from Zynga and re-brands it 'YoWorld'. The YVPD then rebrands itself into the YoWorld Police Department (YWPD) and continues to protect and serve the citizens of the YoWorld Community.

February 28th, 2016: The YWPD is crowned runners-up in the first annual Yoscar contest with it's 'Uptown Funk' entry.

 

April 18th, 2016: The YWPD celebrates it's 5th anniversary.

​

June 8th, 2016: Amanda Smith returns as Chief Constable after a short break. Kerry Rowley then steps down from her position as temporary Chief Constable.

​

August 19th, 2016: Facebook Page reaches 3,000 likes.

​

February 24th, 2017: Our Yoscar 2017 entry 'Love Love Peace Peace' comes runner-up, giving the YWPD it's second runner-up title in a row. The YWPD is also mentioned in the BVG podcast one of the Vikings top picks to win the 2017 Yoscars. Superintendent Saxon and Chief Inspector Ford also have the privilege of meeting Viking Jess and Viking Trevor in game at the  BVG Yoscar after-party.

April 18th, 2017: The YWPD celebrates it's 6th year of service.

​

May 3rd, 2017: A new 'Threat Level System' is introduced.

​

August 12th, 2017: As part of growing efforts to increase engagement with the community, a new 'Coffee with a Cop' event is announced, allowing players to attend monthly drop-ins with officers to share their concerns, meet their local policing team and discuss their views on issues within the community.

​

October 1st, 2017: Instead of their traditional Halloween music video, the YWPD announces a new Halloween Maze that will launch every Halloween, with levels of increasingly difficulty and prizes to be won for those who survive.

​

November 3rd, 2017: Big Viking Games sends a hand signed card to the YWPD from all of the staff at the YoWorld Team, thanking them for their years of dedicated service to the community.

​

January 2nd, 2018: The YWPD hosts it's first annual New Year's Hootenanny.

​

February 3rd, 2018: As the 2018 Yoscars open, the YWPD announce it's entry 'The Flood', one of it's most popular entries to date.

​

April 18th, 2018: The YWPD celebrates it's 7th year of service.

​

June 16th, 2018: The YWPD Facebook Page reaches 4,000 likes.
